Canadian doctors found an insecticidal protein in the blood of both pregnant and non-pregnant women. It was also found in fetal blood, implying it could pass on to the next generation. Scientists in favor of genetically modified crops agreed that insect resistant crops posed no danger to humans as this protein breaks down in the human gut but this study proves that does not happen.

Overall, 69 women were tested:
28 of 30 pregnant women tested +
24 fetal cord blood samples tested +
27 of 39 non-pregnant women tested +
